A Singapore visa photo must be 35 mm wide and 45 mm high (3.5 × 4.5 cm), in colour, without borders, against a plain white background with no shadows. It must have been taken within the last three months. The Singapore High Commission in New Delhi asks Indian applicants for 2 such photos, submitted through its authorised visa agents or via ICA's e-Service. You can make this photo online from a good selfie with SelfieDoc.

Singapore visa photo requirements

The rules below come from the visa page of the Singapore High Commission in New Delhi. That page is the one that applies to applicants in India. ICA's page for Indian nationals confirms that a recent colour photo is needed. It does not repeat the size.

Is there a Singapore visa photo size in pixels?

No. The official visa pages set a print size only. They give no pixel size, dpi or KB limit. If you need a digital file to print from, 413 × 531 px is the same 35 × 45 mm at 300 dpi. Treat it as a printing reference, not an ICA requirement.

You may also see a different pixel size quoted online for Singapore. That figure belongs to ICA's online applications for long-term passes and permanent residence. It is not the entry visa photo.

How many photos Indians need and where to apply

Prepare 2 prints. The New Delhi checklist asks for "2 passport-sized colour photograph taken within the last three months". ICA's general page for Indian nationals mentions only one photo. The checklist of the mission handling your application is the one that counts. Carrying a second print costs you little, and your agent can confirm the number.

The New Delhi page says applications are submitted through its authorised visa agents. ICA lists two routes for Indian nationals:

  1. Online via ICA e-Service. A strategic partner or a local contact in Singapore files the application for you.
  2. Through the Singapore Overseas Mission. You apply at the nearest mission or through its authorised visa agent. The New Delhi page refers to a list of agents in its Annex A.

ICA's page for India does not describe how the photo is uploaded online. If your agent files the application digitally, ask them whether they need a scan of your print or a separate photo file.

Other items on the New Delhi checklist:

  • Form 14A, fully completed and signed by you;
  • visa processing fee of INR 2100 per application, which is non-refundable;
  • agent service fee, charged by the agent on top of the processing fee. Ask the agent for the current amount.

Common mistakes with Singapore visa photos

Most problems come from habits picked up with other Indian documents. Here is what to check before you hand over your prints.

  • Old photo. A print from your last passport renewal is usually older than three months. The rule counts from the date the photo was taken.
  • White border. Some prints come with a white frame. Singapore asks for no borders at all.
  • White shirt or white cap. On a white background these blur the outline of your shoulders and head. Wear a coloured top instead.
  • Shadows behind the head. A single flash or a window to one side throws a shadow onto the wall. The rule says "without shadows".
  • Glare on spectacles. Reflections hide the eyes. Tilt the frames slightly or take the photo without glasses.
  • Fringe over the eyebrows. Pin it back. Both eyebrows and both eyes must be visible.
  • Wrong size. A 2 × 2 inch US-style print or a stamp-size photo will not pass. Measure the print: 35 mm across, 45 mm high.
  • Head turned or eyes half-closed. Face the camera directly with your eyes open.

Glasses, headgear and children

Glasses are allowed if the frames do not cover any part of your eyes and the lenses show no reflection or glare. If the frames come close to covering your eyes or the lenses catch light, take the photo without glasses.

Religious headgear is acceptable when it is worn for religious or racial customs and does not hide any facial features. A turban, hijab or patka is fine as long as your face stays fully visible. Choose a colour other than white if possible, since white headgear is on the "avoid" list.

Children have no separate photo rules on the official pages. Use the same size, background and recency rules, and check with the visa agent before you print.

How to get the photo: at home, in a studio or online

Any of these routes works if the result meets the table above.

At home with a phone. Stand about a metre in front of a plain white wall. Face a window so the light falls evenly on your face. Ask someone to take the photo at eye level, with your head and upper shoulders in frame. Then crop it to 35 × 45 mm and print it at a photo lab. Our guide on taking a passport photograph with your phone covers lighting and framing in more detail.

At a photo studio. Ask for a "Singapore visa photo, 3.5 × 4.5 cm, white background, no border". Give the size in millimetres, mention the no-border rule, and avoid white clothing. You can compare with the usual Indian formats in our article on passport size photo size.

Online from a selfie. SelfieDoc takes a well-lit selfie and fits it to the Singapore visa template. It crops the photo to 35 × 45 mm, evens out the white background and sets the head position. Your facial features are not changed. You receive a photo file and a print layout to take to any photo lab. Lighting, eyes and glasses are still up to you, so take the selfie facing a window, with your eyes open and no glare.

If you are also applying for a Schengen visa, its photo rules are similar but not identical. See Schengen visa photo size.

FAQ

What is the Singapore visa photo size?

The photo must be 35 mm wide and 45 mm high (3.5 × 4.5 cm), without any borders. The Singapore High Commission in New Delhi gives this size on its visa information page.

How many photos do I need for a Singapore visa from India?

The High Commission in New Delhi lists 2 passport-sized colour photos taken within the last three months. ICA's general page for Indian nationals mentions one photo. Carry 2 prints and ask your authorised visa agent what they need.

What is the Singapore visa photo size in pixels and KB?

The official visa pages give no pixel size, dpi or file size limit. 413 × 531 px is simply 35 × 45 mm converted at 300 dpi. Use it as a guide for printing. It is not an ICA rule. If your agent uploads a digital copy, ask them for their file format.

Can I wear a white shirt or white turban in a Singapore visa photo?

The High Commission asks you to avoid white headgear and plain white clothing. Headgear worn for religious or racial customs is acceptable as long as it does not hide any facial features.

Can I use the passport-size photos I already have?

Yes, if they meet every rule. They must measure 35 × 45 mm with no border, be in colour on a plain white background without shadows, and have been taken within the last three months. Older prints, prints with a white border or a different size should be redone.

Can I take a Singapore visa photo online?

Yes. You attach a ready-made photo to the application, and the official pages do not say it must be taken at the agent's office. SelfieDoc crops a good selfie to 35 × 45 mm, evens out the white background and sets the head position without changing your facial features. You get a photo file and a print layout. Ask your agent whether they need prints, a digital file or both.
